PARK PROGRESS Have you noticed the park equipment being installed on the village property off Channel Beach road? Park director Lillian Pomonis has done quite a Job in getting this park going. The swings from the beach area have been moved and along with some new equip ment are now in the new park. Lillian is working hard to get this park done by the village picnic. She hasn't had too many volunteers either. VILLAGE PICNIC Don't forget the village picnic coming up Aug. 19. Who's in vited? All residents of the village of Sunnyside. Bring a dish to paas and the village supplies the rest, hot dogs, beer and pop There'll be games for the kids and mom and pop too with prizes for the winners. So mark Aug. 19 on your calendar and plan to attend. Picnic starts at 12 noon until? MOSQUITO ABATEMENT This summer is one of the worse for mosquitoes since 1970 according to Clarke Outdoor Spraying of Roselle. They do the village spraying along with many other communities in the area. It may seem that nothing is being done about the mosquito population in the area, but I can assure you they are out at least once a week. Weather conditions are such that new hatches are coming every week. Garke says they probably will have heavy hatches until around the middle of August. WEED CUTTING A number of complaints have come in to the clerk's office about people who are not mowing their lawns and keeping weeds cut down. Notice is being sent o£t from the clerk's office to village of fenders. Weeds and lawns must be kept mowed. Many people who suffer from hayfever and asth ma are affected by the pollen of noxious weeds. So if you are one of those who are neglecting to cut your lawn and keep the weeds down, get busy and get it cut. Tall grass is also a perfect breeding place for mosquitoes. The mosquito situation is bad enough this year without giving them ad ditional places to breed.
