Scenes move from the prison to various places in the imagination of Miguel de Cervantes. Cervantes, the sixteenth century author of the novel "Don Quixote," is the central character in the musical drama "Man of La Mancha." The production is being presented next week at the Woodstock Opera House by McHenry County Youth Theatre. "Man of La Mancha" will have four performances, opening Thursday, Aug. 24, at 8 p.m. The show will continue Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and close with a matinee at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug.* 27. Ticket reservations may be made by calling the Woodstock Opera House at (815 ) 338-5300. Tuesday through Saturday noon until 5:30 p.m. Being set in a prison is not the only unusual aspect of "Man of La Mancha." The set, designed by Thomas Engle, features a multitude of levels and a central section that angles toward the audience. "This set, together with the intricate lighting effects, helps transform the setting from the prison room to a county inn, a church or a Gypsy camp in an instant," said Engle. McHenry County Youth Theatre is a new organization with "Man of La Mancha" being its first production. The group is made up of young people from throughout the county. "We have a tremendously talented cast and orchestra led by Phil Cooper (Crystal Lake), Dave Cooney (Woodstock) and Mary T. Strunk (Cary)," said Casalino. "We are also very pleased with the en couragement we are getting from throughout the com munity. Advance ticket sales, for example, are going quite well, though good seats are still available for all per formances."
