A trench 1,500 feet long, 24 feet wide, and 15 feet deep has been completed, and the dredge is now working perpendicular to that trench. The work crew, which is on overlapping shifts from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., is now completing the beach and boat ramp for West Shore Beach. The water is now very deep close to shore there, so swimmers beware! The dredge has opened up several beautiful, bubbling springs, as well as two small creeks leading into the lake. A short note: if anyone has some rags to donate to the dredge operation, they would be appreciated. It is very dirty work. Just drop them off at the dredge site Some clarifications on the proposed McCullom Lake Master association The proposed association is not asking for a deed to the lake bottom, but rather for a long- term lease from each of the lake-bottom owners. As also stated in the previous article, this association would not have taxing power. Diane stated, "Our senses were critically alert, constantly stretching to absorb each new experience Hundreds of miles of rugged sagebrush country stretched to the horizon, predominantly tan in color with an occasional outcropping of green cottonwoods along dried up creeks and rivers, twisting through mountain ranges, in and out of narrow tunnels and suddenly being greeted by clear splashing waterfalls and pine-filled air". Finally in Seattle, there was visiting and a days R&R, followed by a trek to the Olympia rain forest and the Pacific coast. Then back to Seattle to enjoy the famous "Pike Place Public Market", where Diane's brother and his wife earn their daily living as craftspeople. Everyone gorged himself on seafood dinner, then visited the Space Needle, and toured the new Seattle Aquarium on Puget Sound. The children especially enjoyed the "touch tank", which contains live purple star fish, sea anemones, oysters and clams Heading home, the major highlights were the Cascade Mountains, and the Chinook pass, which affords a superb view of Mt. Ranier; another idyllic campsite on rushing Rock creek in the Medicine Bow National forest of Wyoming; and an authentic Pony Express station in Gothenburg, Neb „ Now George, next year.... NEW BABY Andrew Gordon Possum was born Aug 12 at the McHenry hospital. He is Wendy and Andy's first baby, and made his entry with the soft lights, warm bath, and father's attendance which is the procedure in the LaBoyier method of delivery Being^an integral part in the delivery process, was a very meaningful experience for Andy. Birth of a new life is truly evidence of God's love for all of us. Andrew Gordon is Dawn and John Foute's third grandchild, and the first male represen­ tative. Bunco was the name of the game at the Lily Lake Ladies league social night last Wed- nesday. Five members won prizes Helen Netzel won first, then Carol Green. Sophie Paterson, Jean Dember, and, last but not least, booby prize winner Marie Hyatt. Hostesses for the enjoyable evening were Anna Brzezinski and Sophie Paterson. An added pleasure was having Mildred Narcarti's daughter-in-law, Ann Narcarti, from Glenville, Georgia, as a guest Mildred's family visitors cause an awareness of the different speech in our country Ann is from soft spoken Georgia, and Mildred's sister, who visited her recently, has a Brooklyn accent. Having visitors from other areas adds excitement to the ladies' meetings. LIBRARY STORY The Busy Bee party, held for members of the summer reading club at the McHenry- Nunda library on Aug 15, was a happy, hot time. Karen Clewis and children Laura and John, were in charge.
