PAGE 10. PLA1NDEALFR - WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 11.1978 Conservation News McCullom Lake McCullom Lake Con servation club now dredging in McCullom Lake through combined efforts of property owners, club members and other interested volunteers, needs to make an unfortunate plea This plea is for the return of the tools taken from the dredge site. This is a doubly unfortunate incident as the tools belong to volunteer in dividuals who have donated their use to dredging efforts, besides the fact that dredging time is being lost without ap propriate tools Please return (he tools as much hinges on their use by the individuals who ,own them « On a lighter note, please mark your calendars for Nov i l . as this is the day of the bake sale and craft sale for the club \ local bank and the McCullom Lake Beach house are the places and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. is the time. Moving on to other club happenings, the proposal was made at the last meeting that a dredging program be deter mined for 1979. From the progress made this season, it seems that the following dredge schedule was passed by the club members Sept. 21, '78. A Lakeland Park committee will be formed to: a oversee dredging b. assure time schedules and get signatures for workers. c report and ol der diesel fuel and hydraulic oil and pick up the same. d assemble all receipts and turn in for reimbursement e get presidential o k for all expenditures. f. any expenditure over $500 will be voted on by members before commitment g committee will locate new silting area for Lakeland Park trench and the two beaches before March 1 and report findings at Feb. 15 meeting. h. if more used pipe and a booster pump are needed to have them on hand before March 1 i. Berms for silt placement will be constructed prior to March 1. J. arrange for their own engineer for consultation. The Lakeland Park com mittee will assume all of the duties now being done and will use the dredge for the two beaches and trench between them as outlined in the dredge plan. Based on the 1978 per formance this can be done by the end of the year. If the berms are not constructed nor arrangements made by March 1, the dredge will revert to another area to continue on the program as outlined where there are silting areas already designated The Lakeland Park area will then be dredged at a later date. A formal proposal (as outlined in a previous article) for a master association to aid the conservation of McCullom Lake, has been made by the club. The proposal has been made public and a coun terproposal has been made by one of the property owners' associations. A meeting to discuss these proposals will be held soon Contact Harold Bowlin, Lakeland Park, for further details. Watch this column for further information concerning these proposals.
