All contestants must be at the registration booth no later than 12:45 and no earlier than 12:30 the day of the show There are five categories to enter Age categories are 4 to 7, 8 to 12 and teenagers, 13 to 19. Each contestant may enter as many of the catagories as he wishes within his or her own age ring. A small fee is required for each entry in each category. In the past children and persons over age 72, who have been receiving the benefit, for two consecutive years did not receive this annual question­ naire, however, this year this does not hold true. (Photo by Michael Erickson) Gem-Mineral Society Hears Meteorite Expert The Hiawatha Gem and Mineral society will meet at 7:30p.m Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the Lake Villa Township hall, corner of Grand avenue and Fairfield road A very educational program on the "Identification of Meteorites" will be presented by Paul Sitiera, director of the Center for Meteorites and Planetary Studies at William Eye Care Cataracts head the list of eye disorders and are particularly related to elder persons Some medical experts claim that if we "live long enough." most of us will develop cataract Cataract is an opacity, or clouding, of the eye's lens which blocks the passage of light needed for vision Its underlying cause has yet to be determined Symptoms include spots, ghost images, the impression of a skim over the eyes, trouble with lights or a milky spot in the normally black pupil of the eye Simple surgery, entailing a safe operation, normally results in vision restoration Statistics show success in more than 95 out of 100 cases Surgery can be performed when the person feels that the degree of vision loss caused by the cataract is interfering with his normal life activities Eye surgeons remove the clouded lens and most patients return home within five days Ul­ timately, cataract patients must have a replacement for the clouded lens.
