Clean Coal Burning Governor James R Thomp­ son announced last Tuesday a contract has been signed for construction of a facility to demonstrate an en­ vironmentally acceptable way of burning Illinois high-sulfur coal The facility will be located at Great Lakes Naval Training center, the Governor said "The technology to be utilized in this project has significant potential." Thompson said "It represents an efficient and clean source of energy for industry and it also may serve public utilities in power generation This project can prove to be a boon to Illinois' coal industry and to the state's overall economic well-being."
