PAGfC 19 • PLAINDE ALER - FRIDAY. NOVEMBER 24.lS7g A HKI.IMV, PAWS ANIMAL WELFARE ASSOCIATION P.O. Box 20S * Crystal Loke Illinois 60014 •(•IS) 459-2441 By Istallo Atwell By Estelle Atwell Morris himself was not there, but there were a surprising number of Morris look-alikes. So many, in fact, who looked exactly like Morris, that the judges had a difficult time choosing the one who most resembled the late departed Morris. This was one of the categories judged in the Morris Memorial Cat show held Nov 11 at Crystal Point mall. Another category was 'Best Costume' There were skiers, clowns, babies, a football player and others Noticeable at the show was the fact that the common variety cats displayed the best tem peraments and were the most calm A little girl dressed her cat in a red and white sleeper which had been hers when she was an infant It seemed like the biggest toughest 'looking Weekend Sale at owftrw Colorful Blooming Mum Plants (Take-home special) (Reg. *8.50) 4 ) ooJ owarwi RT 14 & 176, CRYSTAL LAKE, ILL. «• # M / -*AA SI >437-9iW Mon.-Thurs. 9-6, Fri 9-S, Sat. 9-5, Sun 10-5 Small breed pups. This Thanksgiving holiday can be a special one for these two little two month old male pups if they can find a home. All shots and ready to go. Please call 653-9653. Photo Credit-Don Kaiser cats were the easiest to dress One little boy entered his large gray cat in the 'Most I'nusual' category When asked what was unusual about his cat he replied: "He was born on my first communion day and he has a cross on his chest." A special award was declared for a cat with the strangest name - Smergelnabitz ' There were five categories and three age groups com peting in each, making fifteen first place winners. These fifteen then competed for 'Best of Show'. The winner was 'Paw Paw", a pretty one-year old female with a marvelous disposition. Beth Triebold of Fox River Grove, her owner, said they found her as a kitten. She had a broken hind leg. They had a splint put on it which stretched it out so long they gave her the name 'Paw Paw'. Said Beth after the an nouncement that Paw Paw was Best of Show:"! always knew this was the best cat in the world *. No one disputed this. Possibly, if Morris, tne cat with an ego to match his fame, had been present, he might have insisted on top honors. Helping Paws thanks judges Lynn Carlson of Algonquin, Patti Cane and Vicky Pulver of Crystal LskV, and Donna Demco of Cary; ilso Ruth Stout and the Crystal Point mall, Kaye Carlson of Algonquin and Ron Nelson of Lake In The Hills, all of whom helped make the show a success It seems as the weather grows colder hearts grow warmer We hope this is the case because foster homes for dogs are desperately needed To clarify, foster homes are SATURDAY-SUNDAY OR MONDAY PRIME RIB of BEEF AU JUS Special *695 Includes: Our famous Solod Bar, Choico of Potato, Soup or Tomato Juico, Mini loaf of Broad and Buttar.
