Dec. 21, may have been the first day of winter, but in reality it did not make its appearance until Tuesday, when it roared into McHenry and every other city and town in the county. The first belo^'^ero weather of the winter greeted loeat residents on that morning as they traveled to work after the two- day holiday. Many motorists discovered to their dismay that automobiles would not start and garage mechanics ex perienced one of the busiest days of the season McHenry as well as other cities, towns and villages of the nation, on Dec. 25 observed the birthday of the Christ Child and "Peace on earth to men of good will" became the chorus of the Christian world's most joyous holiday. Almost every house has at least some sign which gives evidence of the feeling of the residents for the spirit of the season.
