Rather than write a story, I am using the following letter. It tells you everything (M«st everything. How do we know how much cuttin' up those kids did at the party?) Dec 12. 1978 Deaf Earl • -- Just a note about McHenry Day which was held on November 18, 1978 at Anderson Park, Tarpon Springs, Florida. There were 92 in attendance. The other picture is George and Carolyn Goranson registering fcfr the day. We hope these pictures are Ok for the Plaindealer as many of the McHenryites are looking forward to seeing them reproduced. Thanks so much Bill & Pauline Pries Bowman of the Green Wave had high hopes for his team this season, but as of to date they have been a disappointment The Warriors with no lettermen on the squad have shown great improvement during the past few weeks It should be a great game, and because of the time element not many fans are expected to attend The letter added these comments: "There are so many in the picture to be identified -1 gave up. Frank Wiedemann is quite prominent right in the front-left Mervin Schoenholtz sitting on lawn right with cap on - in back of him is Kenneth Espey Walter Cary is about in the center of the picture with a darker color shirt and glasses Hope you can make them out." We would certainly recognize Frank Wiedemann and Ken Espey One at each end of the line balances the picture Sorry Coach Stringer was unable to attend this one Must write to him He remembered us thoughtfully at this Christmas time TYPEWRITER & ADDING MACHINE REPAIR We Offer Complete Service On: •IBM •FACIT •ADLER •OLIVETTI •ROYAL •0LYMPIA AND ALL OTHER MAJOR BRANDS OF TYPEWRITERS AND ADDING MACHINES. Raise it a foot! Al Baur was recalling the days when kids went out flippm' bobs over the unplowed streets in McHenry You ran, grabbed the sled box and got your feet on the runners. He even remembered which farmers used their whip6 to chase the kids What Al doesn't remember is how they shipped a barrel of peanuts from Chicago by freight train. The peanut vendor hired Grandpa Homer Bassett to pick up the barrel at the depot, then drove around town to fill the penny machines That was a popular bobsled as kids tried to grab a fistfull of peanuts out of the barrel. Grandpa Bassett had to use the whip or there wouldn't have been many peanuts for the machines Better cut this off since we must start right out with another column for the first issue next week. These holiday deadlines drive a fellow wacky. This should reach you before Christmas so it won't be amiss to repeat our good wishes for your happiness in this joy filled season, then carry over into the days ahead Komkowske. 166 - 474; D Koleno. 405.
