Meet To Discuss Feeding Problems The McHenry group of La Leche League will meet June 12 at 7:30 p.m. and will be discussinjg ways to overcome and avoid some of the difficulties that can arise from breastfeeding in today's society. Some of the situations discussed will be the special needs of the sick or premature who often have a more complicated beginning at breastfeeding, which can be trying for the mother; planning ahead for the baby's arrival; handling faipily pressures, ways the mother can prepare herself and many other topics related to this special relationship between mother and baby. The league, which seeks to promote good mothering . through breastfeeding, feels the most important ad vantage of nursing is the closeness developed between mother and baby. La Leche League offers information and support to nursing mothers through an informal series of monthly meetings, and leaders are available to help mothers by phone at any time. At the meetings, an extensive library is available for women to use with books on childbirth, nutrition and child care. Any interested woman is welcome to attend and it is most helpful to attend before the birth of the baby. Nur sing babies are always welcome. Other topics in the series include advantages of breastfeeding, the birth of the baby, the family and the breastfed baby and weaning and nutrition. Th' oF rockin' chair's been a gettin' a real work-out these days, wi' all th* things a happenin', all o'er this little sphere. Seems like there's no end; if it hain't th' doin' o' human bein's. Mother Nature takes a crack at it, an' wreaks her havoc in her own way. Maybe she's a teachin' us a lesson, that man hain't so mighty after all, an' better watch out. Ever so often we see th' pow'rful manifestations o' nature. Man is such a frail part o\ nature, an' since the' beginnin' endeavored t' exert his prowess t' prove himself. Societies ha' come an' gone, f'r thousands o' years, an' generation , after generation ha' fought their wars, rebuilt societies after each episode, but ne'er ha' learned that there's only one way, on this ol' planet, f'r mankind t' prosper, an' that's th' way, taught us from th' time o' b'ginnin', t' put away greed, an' lust, an' develop a society o' lovin' concern f'r fellow-men. Me thinks there's a comin' a time, when there won't be so much o' th' luxurious livin' we enjoy t'day. Folks don't realize how much they have t' enjoy, in this age, f'r th' reason they ne'er had th' experience o' times past, as we o' th' early years o' this century have known. It's only taken about fifty years t' reach th' level o' affluence we enjoy now. This ol' lady looks about me domain, wi' th' comforts so greatly enjoyed, an' r'member how it was durin' th' depression o' th' thirties. Many changes ha' taken place, since those days, an' WEDNESDAY JUNE!!, 19M folks, who had a hard time came through it with a different attitude. Some fell into makin' more money 'n they e'er had afore, when th' war came, an' women were able t' earn more'n they e'er had when th' men were th' bread winners. Th' habit stuck, an' seems, they ne'er did get back in th' home like in days past. We ne'er thought it possible that nearly every member o' th' family'd have an autimobile o' their own, but it happened. Then all th' wond'fui things came along t' relieve household chores, an' here we be, wonderin' how it'll all turn out, wi' th' problems which beset us, these days.
