The hours are 1 to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. A Thursday evening session from 6 to 7 p.m. is offered to senior citizens followed by a 7 to 9.. p.m. session for family swirn. This program will be held at 10 a.m. in Petersen park on June 21. Your dog could be named the funniest, best behaved, smallest, biggest, best trick dog and more. Awards will be presented i 0 every dog in the show. Any dog may compete regardless of breed, pedigree, or training, provided it is at least six months old and is on a leash. Registrations are being taken at McHenry City Hall. The registration deadline is Thursday, June 19. The Kids Dog Show is sponsored by a dog food company, the National Park and Recreation association and the City of McHenry Department of Parks and Recreation. The Department of Parks and Recreation Summer Playground program is now in session at Petersen park. This supervised playground program for area youth 5 to 16 years of age offers a wide variety of activities. This program meets Monday through Thursday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon. Activities will be centered around different themes each week. Field trips or special event ac­ tivities will be held on Friday or Saturday of each week. McHenry Wins Opening Game In Woodstock On June 8 the McHenry Businessmen defeated Conlin-Collins Ford 18-13 in the season opener of the Woodstock 12" slow pitch league. In the fifth inning, Randy Rodiek, John Sytsma and Geoff Welch hit back-to- back-to-back homeruns to put the Businessmen ahead to stay. Arnie Stolte and Steve Schaeffer also hit homeruns in the game for McHenry. Schaeffer led McHenry with three hits while Perry paced Conlin Collins with four hits. Shark Conference Includes Five Local Schools The Shark conference has been settled to five schools, according to information revealed at Tuesday's meeting. They are John­ sburg, Marian Central, Marengo, Harvard and Hononegah. The board was pleased to have settled with schools within a closer driving distance than the previous conference. They were not concerned with me fact that the conference lacks the "sixth" school necessary for automatic state recognition in the football playoffs. Bill Hayes, high school principal, said it ist still possible to make the playoffs if Johnsburg has a "good record" season. Varied Incidents Bring Tickets To Offenders I i It !t Jr. Youth League A Schaumburg man was arrested by McHenry police after he ran into the locked gate at Petersen park, shortly after 10 p.m. May 28. Fred Goering, of Schaumburg, told police he did not realize that the park was closed. He contnued to say that he did not see the gate as he attempted to leave the park. Goering was charged with criminal damage to property. * An argument at the house next to Mr. C's, at 217 N. Front street, McHenry, ended with the arrest of two men. According to McHenry police, James Burkimsher, of West Dundee, came to the house and became involved in an argument with an ex- girl friend, a waitress at the restaurant. A resident in the house, Gino Bollenberg, 217 N. Front street, McHenry, told Burkimsher/ to leave. Burkimsher left, but returned later ana tried to kick in the door. . Bollenberg got a .22 caliber rifle and told Burkimstier to leave. Bollenberg was arrestd for possessing a firearm without a firearm owner's iden­ tification (FOI) card. Burkimsher was arrested for disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property under $150. James E. Walker, 19, of 115 Rand road, McHenry, was arrested June 6 after He was caught trying to syphon gasoline from a car. Walker was charged with theft under $150. The Sheriff's police were called to 5400 N. Highland, McHenry, to investigate a report of a domestic dispute. The dispute was ter­ minated with the arrest of John Gates, 40, of Twin Lakes, Wis., who was arguing with Bis estranged wife, Jeanenne, <at the residence. Bond was set at $35. James Pedersen, 33, of 2707 Apache trail, McHenry, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and im­ proper lane usage after his car was noticed traveling in an erratic manner on River road. The report said the Sheriff's police car was forced to the road shoulder to avoid a collision with the Pedersen vehicle. Bond was set at $2,000. Richard Arendarczyk, of 3921 Greenwood, Wonder Lake, called the police when he found that his 16-foot wood boat was burned where it was beached in Wonder Lake. No cause for the blaze had been determined. McHENRYJR. The bicycle was stolen from the home of Roland Hoffman, of 8607 Sunset, Wonder Lake, who, with the help of neighbors, detained Steven Batjes, 21, of 8905 Acorn Path, Wonder Lake, until police arrived. According to the police report, Batjes was un­ cooperative and attempted to flee, but was later ap­ prehended. Batjes was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting a peace officer and escape. Bond was set at $2,035. The thief then went to the motorcycle, which was parked in front of the home, freed it from where it was locked and rode away. A stereo unit and two speakers were stolen from the office of Dr. Frymark, 2301 Johnsburg road, McHenry. Patrick Arnold, of 4416 Dennis boulevard, McHenry, reported the theft of a camera and some stereo tapes tlrom his van, which was parked at the residence. A stereo, four speakers and a rug were taken from the home of Joe Cotton, at 1820 River terrace, McHenry. Stanley Nieman, of 2421 R i v e r s i d e , M c H e n r y , reported the theft of a 14-foot rowboat from his property. The Sheriff's police were called to the Village Market, 4405 E. Wonder Lake road, Wonder Lake, where em­ ployees were detaining a man who had attempted to leave the store without paying for two bottles of gin. No complaint was for­ thcoming, according to the report.
