BOATERS & FISHERMEN The village board has taken into consideration the idea to dismantle and dispose of the river piers, due to unsafe conditions. In essence, there would be no pier either for docking boats or fishing. Acting upon a suggestion from the audience at the June 24 meeting, the board decided to give the pier one last chance to survive. At the July 8 and 15 committee meetings, the pier will be discussed once more as to whether sufficient interest and volunteer manpower can be secured to repair and- or replace the present pier. If there is not enough in terest, the pier will disap pear and in the future, a new pier cannot be built until a permit is issued from the ... corps of engineers (which is very difficult to secure). There was much discussion from residents in attendance pertaining to a letter sent special delivery to president Grimes from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs. Upon inquiry if the letter was going to be an swered, Weiler said he could call the Chicago office ad ministrator. Mr. Pannerali persisted that the letter should be answered by Grimes, and the Concerned Citizens group would like to work harmoniously together, but if it was not, the group would continue further with legal action. The previous decision not to spray for mosquitoes will stand; consideration will be given to dog registration with the village instead of the county; legal aspects of the amendment to the Capital Development or dinance were questioned; the meeting adjourned to executive session to discuss personnel. The next regular Board of Trustees meeting will be July 29, at which time the anrfual Appropriation or dinance must be passed. PAGE 15 - PLAIN DEALER - WEDNESDAY.
