BUDDY'S WORKSHOP Patching Blacktop There are several scratch markson my windshield due to scraping ice & snow during the winter months. Can the scratch marks be removed? Scratches on glass are very difficult ami sometimes impossible to remove. If the streaks are not bad and wen- caused by using an aluminum or plastic scraper, it is possible that they can be removed. 1 suggest that you try a windshield polish sold at most marine supply stores. However, it vou use harsh abrasives you take the risk of having a distorted vision when looking through the glass. View Indian Artifacts Of County At Museum Program Sunday, July 13, at 2:30 p.m. the McHenry County Historical museum in Union will present a program on prehistoric Indian artifacts On display will be the collection of Myron "Mike Pihl of Harvard, whic consists of points and other tool assemblages of the late Archaic to early Woodland Indian period. All of the artifacts included in this collection came from McHenry county. Pihl, a Harvard area farmer, began collecting some eight or nine years ago and has found artifacts on his property dating from the glacial period (before 8,000 B.C.) to the contact point with EuroAmericans of the last century. While the history of man in McHenry county dates to 12,000 B.C., by and large the ¥ greatest numbers of prehistoric man in this area existed during the Archaic period of from 8,000 to 500 B.C. These early people were roving hunters and gatherers who found the hardwood forests and marshes and lakes of McHenry well suited to their way of life. Archaeological studies of this region have uncovered at least eighteen Archaic sites that have provided an abundance of artifacts, most of which are points, flint knives, grinding tools and axe heads. Samples of these prehistoric artifacts and Mike Pihl's accounts of his discovery of them form the basis of this Sunday's program. Pihl will also be on hand to answer questions on the Archaic and Woodland periods. In past years, museum programs on Indian artifacts have been proved to be very popular and well attended. Museum visitors are en couraged to come early, vi^w the 20,000 items housed in mfTTnuseum, and enjoy the special presentation on our prehistoric ancestors. The museum will be open from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m; There is a small admission charge for non-members. •l~ The McHenry Plaindealer Newspaper Available At The Following Locations: •WHITE HEN PANTRY •MAYS DRUG •BELL LIQUORS •McHENRY WALGREEN •BOLGER'S DRUG STORE •BEN FRANKLIN / •OSCO DRUGS •JEWEL •HORNSBY'S • •HERMES ft CO •LIQUOR MART •VILLAGE MART •J ft R STORE ^gENRYHOSPITAL •J ft L GAS 1 •LAKEVIEW •SUNNYSIDE FOOD •JOHNSBURG FOOD MART •ADAMS GROCERY •IHTTLE STORE •FRED ft IRENf) TAP •McHENRY QUICK MART •SUNRISE GROCERY •STEINY TAP f •McCULLOM LAKE GROC. •HILLTOP GROCERY •FOOD MART •BITS ft PIECES •NORTHWEST TRAIN RENT RMSltfVAC the professional do-it-yourself carpet cleaninq system First Hour of Rental $1.00 per hour . . . for every hour thereafter.
