Number Six Lucky One For Locals McHenry Business Men of the Woodstock 12" Slow Pitch league, extended their undefeated string to six games with three victories last week, the sixth inning proved to be magic in all three games. X\ On Sunday, Juprfe 29, with the wind blowing in at 20 m.p.h., McHenry defeated Blue Max by the score of 8-6. The score was tied at the end of five innings, but McHenry scored twice in the sixth and added an insurance run in the seventh. Don Olson knocked in the eventual winning run. Hunt were each two for three for the Blue Max. McHenry went to five wins and no losses on Wednesday, July 2, with a 4-2 victory over Pioneer Center of Wood stock. Again, the sixth inning proved to be the crucial point. With the bases full and only one out, Pioneer failed to score as one batter popped out and McHenry winning pitcher Arnie Stolte struck out another. In the bottom 6th, Steve Scha sacrifice fly bat runs to clinch t Geoff Welch 1 with a perfec three, including a double and homerun. John Sytsma also helped with some fine defensive play and two for three with a double and triple to his credit. Jim Mowery was tw« for three to aid the cause. % ^ McHenry's sixffl Wciory arrived on July 6, with a convincing 22-9 win over C o n l o n - C o l l i n s F o r d . YOUTH LEAGUE F I N A L S T A N D I N G S Pistakoe Golf "Would you tend the pin please? I've been known to chip on in the hole!" Famous statement plus a little bit of expertise and luck seemed to run all around Pistakee Thursday. Just try teeing off on No. 1 and going 200 yards plus ending up with a score of 49 for the day, and you have a good golfer, namely Ad Zieger. , That's not all of it - McHenryV^Confldent and willing to three for capture that hole, Bernice Dole made her first birdie on No. 6. Corrine Boyer decided to do it the hard way by chipping in from 20 feet, hitting the flag, and then that much awaited putt came. Spectacular! Try that one again! Well Roye Roadman did just that! She also safely tucked away the ball on No. 4 and parred. Heide Kuehn said she had a D.G. game with a par on No. 2 and No. 6 with 14 putts making that a 53. We agree^ Gloria Otth always playing ever so smoothly pared No. 3 and No. 7. Seemed happy with her game. Jean Ohleha made a tricky little bunker shot and landed close enough to make a smoothe putt. It was a classic day for Judy Hutchinson with a four on No. 8 and tapping in with a one putt. Some of those putts are drivingly long. Libbly Johnson repeated her precise golfing from last week with 46 and 15 putts, ending up parring No. 6 and No. 7, calling this an "even" day. Marie McKim had a beautiful shot only a few feet from the hole to make a one putt on No. 8. Golf is looking up! Lori Huml - Our gal who putts one handed. That's right. She only uses one arm to direct that putt in. Playing ever so smoothly, she tucked in 15 putts; and came through with a low score. Sandwiched between two trees and a volumpus bush, Bobbie Burr had a fairway shot that made a "U-turn" for a repeat shot to the green. Was that a shrewd or lucky hit Bobbie? It was indeed a "classic" day for Mary Lou Vomastek. She chipped in from 50 yards and parred No. 3. Then she was "Bit by a bee". Wrong fairway or right colongne? Carnmie Hunt, Shirley Montalbano and Ilavern Gregroy tried their best to keep up with Mary Lou. What a happy foursome. Speaking of foursomes - we have been missing a very fine golfer who won the first place trophy last year. This year Barb Crippen decided to have an appendectomy. We miss you, so hurry and get well. /• Low putts for the day was 14, going to Heidi Kuehn, Shirley Montalbano, Gloira Otth and Libby Podpora. Low net to Ad Zieger, 28. See you at Pistakee....
