New Citizen At MCC The McHenry high school public information office announces the installation of a phone information service line- for weekend and vacation activities. By dialing 385-7902 on weekends or during vacation breaks; community members can obtain information about school activities and athletic contests. A recorded message will provide ac­ tivities information in­ cluding the starting time and location of the events. This new line will also be used to provide an evening information service for special events such as graduation, homecoming activities and school board elections. During severe weather, the Community Service line will advise parents of a school closing or cancellation of an event. Set Marian Cast Marian Central Catholic high school drama director Barbara Miller recently announced the selection of the cast for the annual Fall play which will be presented at Marian on Oct. 30 and 31 at 8 p.m. Rehearsals are now in progress for "Everybody Loves Opal" and among the cast members are Stacey Heuvelman (Opal), Debbie Trnovec (Gloria), Brian Adams (Brad), Teresa Wolf (Doctor), Ed Powers (Of­ ficer), and John Ryan (Solomon). JESSICA ANNE BLAKE Last month, in the ceremonial courtroom of the U.S. District court of Chicago, a petition for naturalization was presented on behalf of 4-year-old Jessica Anne Blake and 173 other immigrants. Jessica was adopted in Bogota, Colombia, two and a half years ago and was welcomed as a new citizen by her sister, Kelly Linn, also adopted from Bogota. Jessica is the daughter of Kathi and Steve Blake of 3122 W. Riverstream, McHenry, who continue to be involved in helping adoptive parents. Kathi is secretary of the Children's Advocate, a group working to find homes for special needs children and now especially to help international adoptions in Illinois. Anyone interested in the group and its free newsletter, which has pictures of several special needs children available for adoption, can contact her at 344-1227. Corner Democrats Make Final Election Plans The McHenry County Democratic Central com­ mittee will hold a regularly scheduled meeting Thur­ sday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Union hall, 117 North Main street, Crystal Lake. In addition to regular agenda items, final preparations will be made for the Nov. 4 general election. , The Democratic Central committee will be signing up everyone who is interested in volunteering for election work. Refreshments will be served to all those attending. Those interested in volunteering for campaign work are invited. Anyone needing a ride or further information should call his precinct committeeman or Monty Yates, chairman, 385- 4829. REAGAN HEADQUARTERS The Reagan-Bush cam-, paign headquarters and telephone bank are now open at 89 Grant street in Crystal Lake. All people interested in volunteering for the campaign may call 455-6520. "Elating and Living Better For Less," will be presented Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 7 to 10 p.m. at McHenry County college. Participants will learn to grow and grind wheat and make delicious, nutritious bread while saving money and reaping the benefits of additional vitamins. Deanna Burleigh Larson, past president of the Nor­ thern Illinois Natural O r g a n i c F a r m e r s association, will give the demonstrations on grinding grains in kitchen milling equipment. Ms. Larson will also demonstrate how sprouting whole grains and seeds can be used for casseroles, salads, sandwich fillings and juices. There will be samples of whole grain bread, soybean spread dip sprouts, dehydrated foods and whole, raw Jersey milk along with handouts on natural foods. Registration for the seminar can be made by telephone through Oct. 10 or in person through Oct. 20.
