Victor Walter, associate professor of Practical Theology and chairman of the Practical Theology division of Trinity Evangelical Divinity school in Deerfield, 111., will be presenting a series of messages from the book of Isaiah at the Alliance church, 3815 W. Bull Valley road, McHenry, Nov. 2-9. Sunday hours are 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. and week days at 7:30 p.m. All attention focused on world events and most particularly relating to the Middle East. Those in terested in biblical prophecy are most keenly interested in what the future of existing nations will be. Rev. Walter will be presenting a biblically based picture of the nations. His theme for the entire series will be "God and the Nations". From a biblical perspective, he will present the following themes: the major signs of the Lord's coming; the things that God says he will do to a nation; the four divisions of nations as God categorizes them; what kind of a nation the United States is and what will happen to people in the prophetic picture. Rev. Walter has made an intensive study of the book of Isaiah over the past years and this study has resulted in many observations relative to present day society and the nations as they now exist. There is an invitation to share in this most in teresting, stimulating and spiritually uplifting series of biblical truth. This entire series is one of several presentations sponsored by the Alliance church in the continuing development of its Fall theme, "The Bible Tells Me So". The Alliance church, in presenting this theme, feels there is a need for each member of the community to have an accurate un derstanding of biblical teachings. Therefore, it offers this series as well as home Bible studies, spon sorship of the Alliance Messenger mailed to many homes in the community, a daily televised Bible study on Cable TV channel 3 at 4:45 p.m. entitled "Strength for Today" and also a free Bible correspondence course to any person who would like to receive it. Information on all of these programs can be obtained by writing to Pastor Gerald L. •» Robertson at the above address or calling the church at 385-1519. One method of controlling and recording the moth populat ion was through the use of pheromone traps. These traps may have been seen attached to trees in and around the infestation area of McHenry. Most pheromone traps have been recovered by the U.S. and Illinois Depart ments of Agriculture. However, at this time, not all have been found. Each trap is a gold-colored triangular box ap proximately 7 inches long and 5 inches in height and depth. There is a number marked in black on one side. Anyone who sees any of these traps is asked to note the exact location and phone one of the following Citizens Concerned for the En vironment (CCE): Louis E. Marchi, Mrs. J. (Patricia) Shanholtzer, or Mrs. Dennis M. (Diane) Kappen, The traps will be picked up for recording by the Depart ments of Agriculture. Another method of control was the use of burlap strips tied to trunks of trees. Those involved are asked to check their burlap for egg masses. If there are no egg masses, take the burlap down and store it until next year. If there are egg masses, please contact the above CCE members. Hold Stop Smoking Clinic The American Lung 'association of DuPage and McHenry counties will be holding a Stop Smoking clinic at McHenry hospital in cooperation with the McHenry Hospital Outreach program. The clinic will consist of six sessions starting at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4, 6, 10, 12, 18 and 25. Harold Wimmer, program director for the Lung association, said, "The clinic does not focus on scare tactics or offer a lot of statistical information. We assume that people who come to the clinic already Simple Battery Verdicts Against Three In Family A McHenry physician, Gerard Dominique, his wife, Gisela and son, Michael, were all found guilty of simple battery, a misdemeanor, last week in the 19th Judicial Circuit court in Woodstock. The charges stemmed from an incident last Oc tober where the three allegedly broke the wrist of a McHenry youth, Joseph Fino.*-- know that smoking is dangerous to their health. Rather, the clinic focuses on how to quit smoking." The clinic program is based on the idea that smoking is a learned habit. Quitting, then, is a process which individuals must un learn and substitute in its place healthy new alter natives. During the sessions, different techniques will be introduced to help make this process less stressful for the individual. There is no fee for the clinic, which will be limited to 15 participants. To reserve a spot or get more information call the Outreach Program of McHenry hospital at 385- 2200, Extension 622, or the Lung association in Wood stock before Nov. 4. Christmas Seals help make this clinic possible. The first co-ed in the US. was admitted to Oberlin College, Ohio, in 1833.
