With the prospects of a political campaign at the coming election, the question again comes up as to wnat side THE TALK will take in case there are two parties in the field. It has always been the policy of this paper to take an unbiased stand on all pub- lic matters, taking sides with neither party. Our columns are always open to everyone for the discussion of any affair pertaining to the public welfare of the village. In doing this, we 1eel that we are doing that which is the duty of every newspaper in setting forth the viewpoints of anyone for the discussion of all. In other words, we are "neutral." ama L. TV NO.'1. PINNETKA WEEKLY TALK enters upon its fourth year today. It main- tains its policy of being unbiased in its editorial judgment and exact in its business dealings. The manager and editor of a village paper face difficul- ties that are not likely to trouble the staff of a big paper much as the resi- dent in a small town finds life holds petty problems and annoyances not encountered in the crush of a city as large as London or New York. But fairness and squareness wear well and can overcome everything. Without missing an issue, Tue TALK has held its weekly chat with its sub- scribers since the start. The talks are enjoyed by the editor, at least, for if it were not for the courtesy of these same subscribers interesting news items, more than once, might be over- looked. In a town with a population of about forty-five hundred it is im- possible to always be "among those present." The prospect of growth in the com- ing year is encouraging. The subscrip- tion list is increasing in size and out of town papers, a number of times, have given the courtesy of an acknowl- edgment to THE TALK when reprinting news published from this office. A place so filled with activity as Winnetka and with the same interests in broad and varied lines of work can- not fail to have its influence on the community at large.
