An Officer's Opinion This expression of General Woed's approval is of particular interest, as only military organization on the north shore for cadets of high school age, as well as the fact that the gen- eral's opinion is that of an army of- ficer on a naval organization. As a matter of fact, it is intended to make the activities sufficiently broad to interest boys and parents whether they have a particular interest in naval work or not. Fine Officers on Staff A recent addition to the staff of in- structors is Francis M. Knight, ex- lieutenant ( j. g.) U. S. N. There are now five ex-navy officers serving on the staff of the local organization as instructors. In some high schools all military work is in charge of one non-commissioned officer, and in Chicago, in the junior R. O. T. C. sys- tem, one army lieutenant is assigned several schools. In the local company of the naval training corps there is an ex-navy officer for each small group of cadets, an advantage and an opportunity that is unusual. The one other naval cadet organiza- tion, established some time ago in the east and recently organized in Chi- cago, makes no attempt to provide experienced instructors in this man- ner. The north shore organization, however, is considered a training corps for officers and is said to have esablished a standard in keeping with that object.
