WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, MARCH 14, 1925 1 19 HERE'S A WOW OF A PROGRAM Radio Stars Come in Person to North Shore Next Monday evening, March 16, will, in the truest sense, be Radio Night for the north shore since it is announced that Frint George, origi- nator of the Radio-Stars-in-Person form of divertisement, will at that time escort no less than 25 Chicago radio artists to the Jane Kuppenheimer Memorial hall, at Skokie school, Win- netka, where they will provide a pro- gram of varied and plentiful enter- tainment under auspices of the Win- netka Temple association. Radio fans are not to get the mis- taken idea that they can "tune in" on this program, for it will be just like a regular variety performance with the stars of the "air" right out there on the stage "doing their stuff" just as they do within the confines of the broadcasting studios. They will be there in person, and that doesn't mean perhaps. Think of an evening of intimate fun with such notables as Jerry Sullivan, announcer of station WQJ; Harry Geise, the original "How-do-you-do" man; Axel Christensen, father of rag- time and past master in the art of impersonation; the sweet-voiced Har- mony Girls; the Langdon Brothers, steel guitar experts; the Melodians, a trio of popular singers who can har- monize like the very dickens; Clyde Hagar, the silver-toned tenor; Grace Wilson, the girl with the beautiful con- tralto voice, and--don't overlook them --the Emanon Eight, the most unique aggregation of jazz syncopaters in captivity! These, and others with them, will be on hand at 8 o'clock Monday evening in the beautiful and spacious Kuppen- heimer hall where there are plenty of seats for all the red hot radio fans. The Radio stars have appeared in concerts every Monday--silent night for Chicago stations--since last Sep- tember in cities and villages through- out northern Illinois and lower Wis- consin. They are booked solidly many weeks in advance and always play to packed houses. The idea is to get there early and be prepared to sit back and have a general good time. Re- quest numbers--the songs you like best over the radio--will be a specialty of the program. Just holler 'em out! It'll be a Wow of a night! LEGION NEWS From the Post Adjutant Our meeting on March 9 was well attended. We dispensed with business of the regular nature, and listened to an enjoyable program given by Ket- terring and Costello, of the Husk O'Hare orchestra, who substituted for "Sleepy" Hall, he being unable to come. The question of the Soldiers Mem- orial for Winnetka was taken up and after a lengthy discussion, the post by a unanimous vote, accepted the model of Samuel A. Otis, which was on dis- play in the Legion room. The Post will travel to Great Lakes hospital Sunday, March 15, as per previous arrangement, all to meet at the office of Commander Lynch in Winnetka, at 2:30 o'clock. This will be a very important trip, both from the standpoint of the veterans and also to satisfy those interested in just what the situation is regarding the Hospital. Don't fail to be present! Our esteemed comrade, Captain Snell, is at this time confined in the Ravenswood hospital, he having been operated upon last Friday. "Capt." isn't at all superstitious. Our best wishes are with you "Cap." and we all hope for a speedy recovery. - It is hoped that those who can, will visit him during his illness. Mrs. T. Dawes' pet canine, a wire-haired fox terrier entitled "Merico", was lost for several days last week, and since having re- turned to its Evanston home, has been under the care of Dr. A. C. Mad- den, veterinary surgeon, of Glencoe. "Merico" was left at the Dawes home in Evanston while the rest of the family journeyed to Washington to attend the inauguration ceremonies: He evidently felt chagrined at being left to the care of the servants and started out for Washington on foot, but became ill and discouraged and returned after three days. Dr. Madden says "Merico" will re- cover from his illness within a few days.
