ki WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, APRIL 18, 1925 7 POSTERS HERALD MARRIED AT 3 Winnetka Legionnaires In- vite to Annual Show During the past week elaborate col- ored posters, designed by Paul Kreger for the Winnetka Legion show, "Married at 3" were placed in all stores and on telegraph poles from Evanston to Highland Park. The reservation coupon ticket sale has been progressing slowly, according to Legion members, because many people do not understand the advantages of buying now. The public sale of tickets begins April 27, but holders of re- served seat coupons, which will be on sale until April 21, will be allowed to select their seats in advance--from April 22 to 25, inclusive. These reservation coupons may be purchased at the North Shore hotel, Evanston, the Wilmette Music shop, the Kenilworth Pharmacy, Adams, Community and Hubbard Woods pharmacies in Winnetka, and Hill- man's pharmacy and Gilbert D.~John- son and Bros. office in Glencoe. According to Mr. Howard H. Hoyt, the director, rehearsals will be held every evening and two afternoons a week until the opening night, May 7. "Those who saw 'The Gay Adven- turess' will be doubly pleased with this bright sparkling musical play," said Mr. Hoyt. "We have been at work for more than a month so all the rough spots will be gone." The orchestra, which will be used in connection with the play, will be under the direction of William B. Moebius, a member of the Chicago Civic Opera company, and will con- sist of 20 picked men from the Chica- Zo Symphony orchestra. Legion mem- bers are enthusiastic over their good fortune in getting this orchestra for their show. They predict that the show is going over big, and urge that those who desire to go buy their tick- ots early, as only 1,000 people can see the show each of the three nights and there will be a great demand for seats at the last minute. The show will be staged at the Skokie school, Winnet- ka, May 7, 8 and 9. . URGE VETS T0 FILE CLAINS Soldiers' Bonus Blanks Are Now Available The Public Service company has sent out word to war veterans in its employ who have not filed an application for the Federal Adjusied Compensation Certi- ficate to which they are entitled should do so immediately. The reasons for this are equally strong as to all ex-service men and so the com- pany's notice is of wide interest. The notice aforesaid states: "Adjusted compensation is computed at the rate of $1 a day for home service with a maximum of $500 for home serv- ice alone. For overseas service computa- tion is at the rate of $1.25 @ day with a maximum of $625 for overseas or both home and overseas. One d@llar multi- plied by the number of days of home service and $1.25 multiplied by the num- ber of days overseas service is the veterans' credit. "The reason why the veteran should not delay filing his application is that section of the law which provides that if the veteran makes application he is en- titled to an adjusted service certificate whose face value will be approximately 2 1-2 times his credit. For example, if his credit is $625 he would receive a certificate for approximately $1,562.50. "If dependents make the application, they will be entitled to 10 cash payments whose total is only of the same amount as the veteran's credit. In other words, of the veteran has a credit of $625 and makes application, a certificate in the amount of $1,562,50 will be issued him and that amount will be paid his dependents at his death. If he neglects to make ap- plication his dependents would receive only $625. "While the law permits applications to be filed until January 1, 1928, in {fair- ness to his dependents the veteran should file his application at the earliest possi- ble moment. Applications can be re- ceived from the nearest Legion Post." Why Americans Go to Church--Club Topic The Young People's club of the Con- gregational church, at its meeting in Neighborhood room of Community House at 6:45 o'clock, will talk on the question "Why Are So Many Americans Members of the Church? So many Not Members?" Frances Anderson will be the leader.
