WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, MAY 16, 1925 9 SHOW INVENTIONS AT ARMY DEMONSTRATION New inventions increasing the efficien- cy of airplanes will be demonstrated be- fore the public for the first time when the Regular army stages its military show on May 22, 23, 24, in the Grant Park stadium, Chicago. Army officials believe this feature will be of timely interest as well as enter- taining because of the recent controversy stirred up by Brig. Gen. William Mit- chell concerning the status of the Amer- ican Air service. Included in these latest inventions are important developments *n radio and photography, which enable aviators to direct whole armies and provide artillery men with accurate and up-to-the-minute photographic records of enemy locations and the effect of long range gun firing. This will be demonstrated when avia- tors, equipped with small compact radio sending and receiving sets, will circle the stadium and through communication between themselves and the land forces, direct some of the performances from the air. At the same time a special plane equipped with the latest type of photographic instruments and material will take pictures of spectators and with- in the course of a few minutes develop and print up the negatives while in the air and drop them to a designated spot by means of a miniature parachute. In addition to these instructive fea- tures the aviators as well as troops from Fort Sheridan, including cavalry, ar- tillery, and infantry, will stage spectacu- lar battles during both afternoon and evening performances. There will be wild dashes of cavalry men tearing through a battery of 75 millimeter guns fired simultaneously, a feat which will demonstrate the horsemanship of the mounted troops and the fearlessness of the horses in the face of terrific firing and the resultant clouds smoke. of powder New Trier Is Second in Orchestra Contest New Trier High school won second place in the Chicago and Cook County High School Orchestra contest, held at Orchestra Hall last Saturday. Eight schools had orchestras in the contest, whch was won by Thornton, whom New Trier had excelled in the pre- liminary contest. Those who attended the contest said that the work of the orchestras was very excellent and com- sionals. They also said that there was little, perhaps merely a technical, dif- ference between the winner and New Trier. Eats Steak First Time in 3 Years Boston Dentists, 135 S. State Street, Cor. Adams. Cadillac owners in the North Shore communities are invited to visit the show rooms with their friends and inspect this unusual and attractive display. Motor car owners have been pressing the starter button, shifting gears, applying brakes--here is an oportunity to see what effect these driving operations have on the starter, transmission and braking system. Every part is cut open. The operation of the mechanism can be easily seen. Cadillac four-wheel brakes; the compen- sated V-63 crankshaft; starter; carburetor; cooling sys- tem; rear axle; all can be examined. A chassis expert, trained at the Cadillac factory, will be in attendance and will gladly give explanations and answer questions. During this exhibition, the show rooms will be open evenings until 10 o'clock. CADILLAC MOTOR CAR COMPANY, Evanston Branch Division of General Motors Corporation 1810 Ridge Avenue, Evanston CADILLAC
