WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, MAY 23, 1925 19 HUBBARD WOODS REALTY ACTIVE Sales Lead North Shore for Past Year "There has been great activity in real estate in the Hubbard Woods business district for the past 12 months," according to Howard H. Brown of Murray and Terry, real estate operators. "In checking up the other day we found that there had been more sales made in the district zoned as commercial along Linden avenue in the Hubbard Woods business district than in the Winnetka and Glencoe main business districts together," he states. "This is due to a certain extent to the new paving improvement and also the lighting system, but largely to the low price at which this property has been held as compared with property zoned for business in both Winnetka and Glencoe. "The following sales have been made within less than 12 months: "100 feet in the block between North avenue and Gage street about a year ago, Standard Oil company to W. L. Wente and Vie J. Killian. The same property within the last two months sold by Wente and Killian to Fred- erick A. Cooper. "100 feet in the same block from Arthur Reifenberg and others to Paul Reschke. "100 feet at the southwest corner of Gage and Linden from James Ding- wall to Reuben H. Schell. "Another 100 feet adjoining this on the south from James Dingwall to Max Meyer, the same property having been sold within the last few weeks by Max Meyer to Dr. J. E. Fonda. "50 feet in the block between Gage and North avenue facing east from Grace Geary to Ben Kiefer. "50 feet adjoining this on the south from Philip Dittmar to H. H. Brown. "In the block north of Gage street, opposite the park, 50 feet from C. L. Wyman to P. W. Bradstreet and the 50-foot corner lot at the southwest corner of Linden and Scott avenues from Elizabeth O. Shibley to David Nelson. Some of the above parcels have im- provements on them. F. R. Pyrrell, 559 Arbor Vitae road, has returned from three months in California. Such is the promise of Louis Eck- stein, president of the Ravinia club and directing head of the most famous sum- mer opera enterprise in America. Mr. Eckstein announced this week that a perfect system of drainage and a co- pious pouring of oil upon the favorite breeding haunts of the obstreperous in- sects within a radius of one mile around the Ravinia auditorium would have the effect of insuring a mosquito-less season of song and concert music. Oil stations have been established in the territory and the business of eradi- cating the mosquitos will proceed with unrelenting persistency, Mr. Eckstein de- clares.
