She first studied with Lom- bardi in Florence, Italy. In the United States she was one of the very few pupils of Madame Schumann-Heinck and studied further with Madame Mar- cella Sembrich and Yvette Guilbert. During the last few years, she has sung with great success in many of the most important musical centers of Eu- rope. "Clara Bloomfield has specialized in the dramatic interpretation of the folk- songs of England and the European continent and includes also in her repertoire, American Negro spirituals and Indian folksongs. She has been much praised for the skill and intelli- gence with which she brings out the appealing charm, now wistful, and now intensely dramatic, of these poems and melodies. Among them it is the chil- dren's songs, for the most part neg- lected by musicians, but kept alive by generations of mothers, which Clara Bloomfield is almost alone in singing with an artist's revelation .of beauty." lt Mr. and Mrs. Miller Cross of 719 Foxdale avenue, have had as their house guest for the past week, Mrs. George Thorsen of New York.
