They are laying the foundation for .the State Bank and Trust company's new $750,000 home. The building, which the architects promise will be one of the most beautiful and artistic of its kind, will be far enough completed by next May, it is expected, for the bank to move into one section of it. With- in 18 'months according to the sched- ule, the entire building will be com- pleted and ready for occupancy. The building will have a frontage of 1132 feet on Orrington avenue--prac- itically the entire east side of Foun- tain square. It will occupy the corner with a depth of 106 feet on Davis street. The present banks building- at the corner will stand until the_north two-thirds of the building is completed. Dyche, chairman of the board of di- rectors, and Frank J. Scheidenhelm, president. Mr. Scheidenhelm is a well known resident of Wilmette. His home is at 804 Forest avenue. The bank proper will occupy the whole second floor of the structure. The bank room will be 92 feet long, 48 feet wide and 28 feet high. There will be 30 banking windows, desks for 16 bank officers and eight check desks with marble seats. A customers' concourse, 30 feet square, will be set aside at the west end of the second floor. The two elevators, connecting with the ground floor at the entrance, will open into this, and the women's room, the president's of- fice and the board room will connect with it. The Italian renaissance motif will be employed in the decorative scheme, with a touch of bright colors in the ceiling, and with marble and tile floor, black marble and walnut counters and stained glass in the presi- dent's office and the lobby ceiling. | The accounting and bookkeeping of- fices will be on the mezzanine floor, and the entire fourth floor will be available for office use. Shops on Ground Floor The bank will lease the ground floor for high grade shops and stores. A vault department with accommoda- tions for 12,000 boxes, as well as trunk and parcel vaults, will occupy the base- ment. A small auditorium for business and club meetings will be accommo- dated in the basement. The exterior of the building will be of polished granite in the lower part and Bedford sandstone in the upper part. The architects are Child and Smith of Chicago. The Edward L. Scheiden- helm company has the contract for building. Mr. Scheidenhelm resides at 704 Lake avenue. Cab Driver Gets Fine on Disorderly Charge John Poquini, 2446 West Forty-sixth street, Chicago, a Yellow cab driver, was arrested on charges of intoxica- tion and disorderly conduct last Sun- day by Sergt. John Iverson and Police- men Ottone and Cazel after his ma- chine had collided with another car. He was later fined $10 and costs by Police Magistrate C. T. Northrop, who was lenient because of the man's wife and small children, it was said. No one was injured in the iccident. ON BUYING TOUR H.
