Fixing Tire on Drive Nearly Costs His Life Mrs. Oscar W. Olson, 1108 Oak street, Winnetka, narrowly escaped se- rious injury Monday noon when she was forced to choose between a head- on collision with a speeding auto- mobile or another machine parked at the curb. She chose the latter and escaped injury. Mrs. Ridge avenue in Evanston. neared the St. Francis hospital an- other machine cut out of the stream of south-bound. traffic, directly .in her path. The car was going at a high rate of speed and could not stop in time so she crashed her car into one belonging to Thomas Irving, of Nor- wood Park, which stood parked at the curb. Irving was changing a tire on his machine when struck and knocked him senseless. He was taken into the hospital where he soon recov- ered, having suffered only minor bruises and slight cuts about the head. The other driver escaped. Gambrill Wins Trophy in Illinois Club Play Dick Gambrill won the Espinosa trophy at the Illinois Golf club last Saturday with a low net score of 72. H. J. Kaufman came second with a low net of 73. Gambrill also led the field in the qualifying round for the Vice-Presi- dent's cup.
