The Rev. F. J. Hearth, pastor, and a com- mittee of the Holy Name society are preparing to make this one of the big- gest days that the parish has ever wit- nessed. An invitation is being sent to all of the Catholic churches along the north shore to take part in the cele- bration. The new church, located on the cor- ner of Tower road and Burr avenue, will be of early English Gothic style, built of Bedford stone. When com- pleted it will be one of the finest church edifices along the north shore; one of which, not only the members of the parish, but the entire community should be proud. Details of the ceremonies announced later. will be Chamber of Commerce Band Gives Concerts The Winnetka Chamber of Com- merce band will begin a series of three concerts Thursday evening, August 13, when the first of these will be held in the Village Green. Thursday August 20, which is Winnetka Day, the band will play for a street dance near the Skokie school on Elm street. The third concert will be held in the Sta- tion park at Hubbard Woods on Thursday, August 27. This band is very popular along the north shore and has been called upon to furnish music for numerous civic affairs. J. Melville Brown Returns from Lengthy World Tour Adter a 14-months' tour of the world J. Melville Brown of Wilmette has returned and will occupy his residence at 738 Eleventh street, September 1. He is now staying with Charles H. Crocker, 93 Robsart place, Kenilworth. Mr. Brown wrote a number of inter- esting letters on foreign countries, which appeared from time to time in the WiLme™E Lire. Sea-Plane Newest Craft to Enter Wilmette Harbor Among the latest arrivals at the Wilmette harbor this week is a new flying boat, the property of Welling- ton Quirk of Evanston. This craft, brand new and direct from the gov- ernment factories, arrived last Mon- day at the harbor and was given a try-out Tuesday afternoon. It has a Curtis eight-cylinder V-type motor, which is said to drive it at a speed of 100 miles an hour. It uses from 12 to 14 gallons of gasoline an hour and carries a supply of 42 gallons, which gives it quite a cruising radius.
