HA McNAMARA won from Mrs. E. F. Wellinghoff one up, and Mrs. John Arends won from Mrs. Tracy Holmes: in the semi- finals in class A in the club champion- ship at the Wilmette Golf club on Wed- nesday. The qualifying round was played on Tuesday. ; Mrs. McNamara won 3 and 2 from Mrs. F. N. Otte in the finals for the' Holmes trophy Thursday, August 6. Skokie Club Postpones Semi-final Matches HE semi-finals in the Skokie club championship which were to be played on Wednesday were post- poned to a later date because of the rain. Pairings for the first flight of the semi-finals are Mrs. Edgar Stevens of Kenilworth, Miss Ernestine Pearce of Glencoe; Mrs. Paul G. Chace of Glencoe, Miss Eva May Johnson. In the second flight pairings are Mrs. A. J. Mitchell of Winnetka, Mrs. W. S. Johnson; Mrs. A. S. Webster, Mrs. L. P. Zinke of Glencoe; and in the third flight Mrs. M. H. Dement of Wilmette, Mrs. G. H. Bird of Wilmette; Mrs. S. P. Patton, Mrs. E. R. Hankins. Mrs. S. L. Williams and Mrs. S. R. Safford of Glencoe will play the finals for the non-qualifying. The qualifying round of the championship was played off on Monday. _ Mrs. Paul G. Chace was the winner in approaching and putting on Monday afternoon. ¥ Next Monday will be guest day with prizes for guests and members in each event. Play will be choice score on four short holes and for the least num- ber of putts on 18 holes. Miss Margaret Knapp Wins Indian Hill Golf Honors HE remainder of the August pro- gram for Indian Hill has been announced. Wednesday of this week play was choice score of first nine played twice. There will be low gross and low net on Wednesday, Aug- ust 19. The last events in August will be low gross and low net on 18 holes on Wednesday, August 26. Special prizes are being donated by Joe Mac- Morran for aggregate scores with handicap for the four August events. Prize winners at the club Wednes- day, August 5, were: Miss Margaret Knapp, first, and Mrs. M. Paul Noyes, second, in class A; Miss Ruth Matz and Mrs. Frank Fuller in class B; and, in class C, Mrs. Kent Tenney and Mrs. Walter Noble Gillett. Mission Leader to Speak at Local Baptist Church Dr. George A. Huntley, field repre- sentative of the Board of Missionary Cooperation of the Northern Baptist Convention and a member of the Wil- mette Baptist church, will occupy the pulpit of that church Sunday morning, August 16, at the 11 o'clock services. Dr. Huntley was for 35 years a mis- sionary for the American Baptist Foreign Missionary society in China. His message this Sunday will relate. to conditions in China and is regarded as particularly timely in view of the un- rest in that country at the present time. Sunset Ridge Begins Club Championship Play Tuesday UNSET RIDGE will begin its club championship matches on Tues- day when the qualifying round will be played. Mrs. E. C. Johnson and Miss = Vir- ginia V. Ingram won first prize in the best ball foursome at the club on Tues- day of this week. Three pairs of play- ers tied for second place. The tie has not yet been played off: Mrs. Turn- bill and Mrs. Traver were the winners in the nine hole class. } North Shore Club Holds Finals for Wolf Trophy RS. F. BARRON was the winner of the George D.. Wolf trophy at the North Shore golf club in the finals on Tuesday. Mrs. H. H. The results in the first round last Saturday are as fol- lows: R. Gambrill defeated J. C. Bol- ter, 3 and 1; C. W. Jordan defeated W. C. Lewis, one up; R. A. Sanborn won from F. B. Ahara by default; A. C.. Hammond defeated H. Redman, 3 and 2; H. J. Kaufman won from H. Mosier by default and J. E. Carney from E. M. Jones by default; Dr. R. Wilson defeated F. W.
