WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, AUGUST 15, 1925 13 Miss Barbara Scott to be Married September 23 ISS BARBARA SCOTT, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Scott of Sheridan road, has chosen the afternoon of Wednesday, September 23, as the time for her marriage to Donald Phelps Welles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Phelps Welles of Evanston. The wedding will take place in the gardens of the brides grandfather, those of the Rob- ert Cluett estate, where Miss Bar- bara's sister, Betty, became the bride of Edward Kenneth Welles, the twin brother of her fiance, two years ago this September. Mrs. Welles, as matron of honor, and Miss Emily Scott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred- erick H. Scott, as bridesmaid for her cousin, will be in the bridal party. Ed- ward Kenneth Welles will also be among the attendants. - Miss Scott, who graduated from Miss Walker's school, finished her education in England and Italy. Mr. Welles was a member -of the 1920 class at Yale. : Miss Serena Forberg, daughter of Mrs. A. N. Forberg of Linden avenue, has received the position of assistant instructor in chemistry at the Univer- sity of Wisconsin for the year begin- ning this September. Miss Forberg graduated from the university in June, and intends to work for her Master's degree during the coming vear.- She has the distinction of being the first woman to have this honor conferred upon her. --_--0-- That bridge luck changes any card player will readily affirm, and proof of the observation would seem to be in the changing names in the list of prize winners which comes to us every week from the Sunset Ridge club. SO The Misses Betty Barber and Mary Forrest left Winnetka last Friday to be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Weart of Oconomowoc on a motor trip to Superior. They will be present at the pageant given annually by the Indians on the reservation. Oi Mrs. Charles Aspenwall, 1195 Tower road, left Sunday for Reading, Pa., to be the guest of her daughter, Mrs. Wil- liam Merriman, for a month at Merri- man summer cottage. Miller and daugh- ter, Virginia, 861 Foxdale avenue, have just returned from a tour of the West and Northwest, which included Lake Banff, Lake Louise, the Canadian Rockies, Alaska, the Yukon, Vancouver, Victoria; Seattle, Portland, Mt. Rainier, and Glacier Park, and on which they were away: for seven delightful weeks. Oi Mrs. M. P. Tilley, 382 Fairview ave- nue, has as her guests her sister, Mrs. R. S. Dearstyne, and son of Raleigh, N. C, for the month of August. After her visit 'here, 'Mrs. Dearstyne. will leave for New York and will be ac- companied by Mrs. Tilley who will be gone for a month. Ok Mrs. Carleton Prouty of 693 Willow road, was most pleasantly surprised Thursday when a large number of friends of the Winnetka chapter of the Eastern Star dropped in to: see her. Arnold, 205 Chestnut street, left on Tuesday for a vacation in Ontario, Canada. They sailed on the South American up through Lake Michigan and Lake Huron to Parry South on the east shore of Georgian bay, and from there will motor to the Bigwin inn where they will remain a month. Rr The Winnetka boys who were ex- pected to return yesterday from the ranch at Jackson Hole, Wyo. are: Philip Moore, Curly Butler, Wilder Ripley, John Ott, 'Francis Lackner and Ralph Greenlee. Crowell, 770 Humboldt avenue, and Miss Pauline Kearney, their guest, have returned from a trip to Mackinac island on the Perry Kay, the Crowell yacht. SO William B. McIlvaine of Green Bay road, left this week to join his family at their country home at Charlevoix, Mich.
