WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 1925 TT I... 7 CLUB PRESENTS GREAT ARTISTS Luminaries of Music World to Appear on Music Club 1925-26 Program TICKETS NOW ON SALE Edward Johnson Opens Sea- son October 12 Stars of the first magnitude in the music world will delight north shore music lovers who attend the artist-re- cital series sponsored by the Winnetka Music club this fall and winter. The 1925-26 season will be long remembered in these parts for the appearance of such a group of world famous artists as was never included in any program given on the north shore. The first of the series, which will be given October 12° at the New Trier auditorium, will be a recital by Edward Johnson, Metropolitan opera tenor. He was born in Guelph, Canada, but re- ceived his musical education in this country, and has been a favorite with American and European audiences since 1907. Brailowski Coming Soon Alexander Brailowski, young Rus- sian pianist, will charm those who at- tend the second of the series with his playing. He has been called the most phenomenal pianist since Rubenstein and has long been a favorite in Paris and New York. In Paris he gave 26 concerts without repeating a number in the whole series, except by request. His popularity in New York has been unequalled, it is said. In the third concert of the series, to be given January 8, 1926, Dusolina Giannini, dramatic soprano, will give a song recital. She is also well known to American audiences and has a rich and mellow voice, gorgeous in color and with a wide range. Matzenauer Here in March Margaret Matzenaeur, noted Metro- politan Opera contralto will be heard in March. The late J. C. Huneker, one of America's foremost music critics, said of her that she deserved the title of the greatest living con- tralto. She has given concerts in every country in Europe and has gained a wide following there as well as in| America. Albert Spaulding, violinist, is another star who will be heard in the artist- recital series. He is a Chicagoan by birth and has appeared many times as soloist with the Chicago Symphony orchestra, although he has lived abroad most of the time for many years. He is listed among the 12 lead- ing violinists of the world by music critics and is said to be the only Ameri- can violinist who ever gained the dis- tinction of appearing at "La Scala," Milan. A few season tickets for this series are still available, and may be obtained from Mrs. Grant at the Winnetka State bank, it is announced. This is expected to be the most noteworthy and suc- cessful season in the brief but brilliant history of the Music club. Mr. and Mrs. Robert S.
