A ERR 32 WINNETKA TALK October 3, 1925 Promise Sell-outs at Purple Football Games for Season Packed stands will greet North- western university's football team at all the games to be played this fall ac- cording to announcement made by Ed- ward B. Davidson, manager of the ticket sale. Never in the history of football at the Purple school has the advance sale been so large as it is this season. The early games with South Dakota this Saturday and with Carl- ton October 10, will see practically every seat on Northwestern field filled. Exceptionally heavy sales for the conference games to be played at Ev- anston and in Chicago are reported. A capacity crowd will attend the Indi- ana game on October 31 which will be the Northwestern homecoming. Thous- ands of grads have already written for reservations on that date. Soldiers Field at Grant Park, Chi- cago, will be taxed to hold the throngs which will be on hand to witness the Northwestern-Michigan game Novem- ber 7, declares Mr. Davidson. Last fall the Purple played Notre Dame on the same field and thousands were turned away from the great stadium. This season the strength of the two competing teams will assure another heavy attendance. When the visiting Tulane eleven from New Orleans meets the Purple at Stagg field another huge crowd is expected. Tulane, last year cham- pions of the South, will come North with a veteran team prepared to give the Purple considerable opposition. "The Green Wave" as the Tulane ag- gregation is termed throughout the South, is anxious to put the skids un- der Coach Thistlethwaite"s boys. Due to the importance hinging on the struggle and in order to assure suf- ficient seats for all it was decided to stage the game at Stagg field. Mr. and Mrs. John T. Metcalf have rented their home at 1082 Cherry street and will live with Mr. and Mrs. John Buckingham this winter until their new house on Locust street is completed.
