4 October 10, 1925 WINNETKA TALK APPROVE NEW CHURCH Winnetka Congregationalists Accept Recommendations for Structure to Seat 1,200 People. At the meeting of the Winnetka Congregational church Monday night of this week, the church unanimously adopted the two recommendations of the church council in regard to the site and the size of the new church soon to be built. That means that the plan is to build a new structure on the location of the present church with a seating capacity of approxi- mately 1,200. John Leonard Hamilton, a member of the Church Building-Plan commit- tee, presented in considerable detail the history of the study which the committee and the architect have made to date. He also showed some large ground plan drawings depicting the way in which Mr. Klauder, the archi- tect, believes the problem can best be solved. Great stress was laid on the fact that if the church was built on any other site it would also have to build a large Church House in order to pro- vide for its Church school, it being entirely inexpedient to have the Church school classrooms separated from the church even by a single street. It is, therefore, extremely fortunate that it proves possible to place a beautiful and adequate church on the present land. Details have not been worked out, but it is suggested that the new church lie on the north and south axes instead of east and west and that the present church also be turned to lie north and south and be moved some distance to the west where it would be of great value as a chapel, to be used for smaller services and by the Church school. There is much satisfaction in the prospect of retaining a structure that has, through the years, gathered so many hallowed memories about itself, it was stated. The Church Building committee is now in a position to have complete plans drawn and submit them to the church for approval. Names Electrical Board to Study New Regulations Village President John S.
