"The law of the land places upon every driver the duty of exercising ordinary care," reads a statement. "Ordinady care requires you to remem- ber that others, pedestrians, children, and horse-drawn vehicles, use the highways. "In the exercise of ordinary care, the motorist should consider the possible acts of other drivers; remembering that every month sees thousands of new motorists on the streets -- an army of inexperienced drivers. "The state law says that anything over a certain rate of speed is prima facie evidence of negligence. On a rainy night, when your view of the road is obstructed, when children are playing on the sidewalks, when street lighting is dim; these are all special accasions when the motorist may, in the exercise of ordinary care, be forced to drive at a rate of speed even lower than that prescribed by law." "Motorists are often of the opinion that the right hand right of way rule applies to street cars," says a bulletin issued by the legal 'department, "but it has been held that street cars are not vehicles within the meaning of the Act. Kenilworth Burglar Faces Long "Stretch" Hugh Ross, the burglar who was captured by Captain Arthur J. Eppers of the North Shore Protective asso- ciation after he had robbed two Kenilworth homes of $2,000 in clothing and jewelry last Wednesday evening, faces a prison sentence of from 15 to 30 years in New Jersey, it was learned by the police. Ross was sentenced to a term of years in the peniten- tiary in New Jersey on a charge of burglary, but escaped from his guards. He has been held over to the grand jury by Police Magistrate D. M. Mickey of Wilmette and is now await- ing trial on three charges of burglary in Chicago.
