35 WINNETKA TALK October 17, 1925 BUILD NOW -- ADVICE | Great Expositions Point Out Advan- | tages of Off Season Construction of Homes and Stores Possibilities of greatly extending winter construction in home building as well as in the building of sky- scrapers is being brought out in own- your-home shows and in similar ex- positions in a number of cities. Real estate boards through the National As- sociation of Real Estate boards have had part in the study instituted by the United States Department of Com- merce for aiding in distributing build- ing activities over 12 months of the vear and so Tessening the cost of construction, a cost greatly affected by the traditionally seasonal character of the construction industry. An exposition to the public of the advantages of building one's home during the slack winter period, when bonuses are not, and a showing of the practical possibility of winter building with modern construction methods was recently held in Pittsburgh in connection with a Home Beautiful ex- position. Architects, contractors and material men in Pittsburgh united in pointing out the advantages to the prospective home builder of undertaking his work at a time when labor will be plenti- ful, contractors free of the pressure of other jobs, and architects in a posi- tion to give close supervision to the work. There were 150 booths in the ex- position, showing every kind of ma- terial that goes into the making of a home. All along the line information was given regarding the possibilities of each material for winter building, and the economy that results for the individual who seizes upon a slack month rather than a peak month for his own building enterprise, North Shore Man Joins Gulfport Realty Firm Maj.
