October 24, 1925 WINNETKA TALK 19 Isabel Molter Will Appear in Chicago Recital Next Sunday Isabel Richardson Molter is one of the first soloists to appear this fall under the direction of Bertha Ott, successor to F. Wright Newman, She will give a recital at the Princess theatre Sunday afternoon, October 25. Mrs. Molter, who returned to the concert platform last spring, after an absence of several years, is a daughter of the late George P. Richardson, the founder and president of the Richard- son Silk company of New York and Chicago. Mrs. Molter, since her return to the music field, has made a signal success, for she combines a splendid voice and personality with a rare power of inter- pretation. Her singing of "Elsa's Traum" from Lohengrin, at Chicago university last summer was enthusiasti- cally received. Last Sunday she appear- ed with great success in recital at Kenosha, Wis., and on October 27 she sings before the Junior Friends of Art at the Blackstone hotel. At her recital in the Princess theatre, Clijeago, next Sunday, Mrs. Molter will sing among other songs, "Nuages" (Clouds), by Georges ok] "D'Une Prison", (Concerning a Prison) by Hahn: two French songs of remarkable style and dramatic interest. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Clark, 135 Fuller Lane, Winnetka, left Thursday for the East, where Mr. Clark will at- tend business in New York and will visit Mr. and Mrs. Grant Keehn, for- merly of Kenilworth. They expect to stop off in Pennsylvania for the Chica- go-Pennsylvania game. Op Mrs. H. H. Barnum of 735 Walden road is spending 10 days in Minneapolis visiting friends. Calls Newspaper Best Aid to Safety Drives Newspapers are given credit by Sec- retary of State Louis L. Emmerson for aiding in decreasing the number of automobile accidents. Statistics show that the number of accidents per automobile operated is decreasing, Mr. Emmerson says, and in many cities there has been an ac- tual decrease in the total number of automobile accidents. "This is due in a large measure," he adds, "to the publicity given by news- papers to causes of accidents. The newspaper is the most effective single force in the interest of greater safe- ty." Many States Now Use Illinois Road Markers The road marking system originated by the Illinois highway department is being adopted in many other states. The Illinois system shows three de- grees of danger: First, the "Look" sign placed at approaches to small road intersections and other places where some degree of caution should be exercised; second, a "Caution" sign placed before bad turns and peculiar curves or other places of unusual haz- ard, and third, the "Danger" and "Stop" signs used before railroad cross- ings or at side roads, before crossing a hard road and other dangerous places.
