The lovely flowers now lie low, The Summer's past! But in the bins the apples glow-- The yellow corn stands row on row, The furrows back-turned by the plow Await the seed--when Spring, some- how, Comes back at last! When life is o'er--and all is done, With credits due! With good deeds done--all filed away, Alas how few! May I not hope, in that fair day Some kindly Soul for me will pray! Perhaps e'en now a wreath I've won, Or yet may win--e'er set of sun-- Ah, if I knew! --H. A. Mis, Wilmette.
