WINNETKA TALK November 21, 1925 Soloist A genuine treat is in store for sub- scribers to the New Trier Orchestral association concerts Tuesday evening, November 24, when Miss Catherine Wade-Smith, youthful violinist, ap- pears as soloist with the Symphony Players of Chicago. A brilliant career has been predicted for her by leading music critics of the country. Public Schools to Hold Thanksgiving Programs Winnetka schools will observe Thanksgiving with special programs next Wednesday, the day before the holiday. The Greeley school will have music appropriate to the occasion and a speech by Howard Funk, of the school. The Horace Mann school will have several short pantomimes in ad- dition to music and the Skokie school will have music and a program that has not yet been completed. | Children Find Joy in Recitalists' Program Henry Cowell, composer-pianist, and Clara Bloomfield, interpreter of folk songs, appeared in joint recital at the Skokie school auditorium Friday after- noon and evening of this week. In the afternoon all the Winnetka school children above the third grade gath- ered at the auditorium to hear these artists in a program especially adapted for children. The evening performance was for adults and attracted a large gathering. Mr. Cowell is the composer of futuristic music and has created quite a stir in musical circles both here and abroad.
