November 28, 1925 WINNETKA TALK Winnetka Woman's Club On Wednesday evening, December 2, at 8:30 o'clock, the Winnetka Wom- an's club announces a program of especial interest. Aaron Sapiro will speak to the members, their husbands, and their friends on "Co-operation in Agriculture." Mr. Sapiro is the head of the co-operative marketing move- ment in this country. He is one of a group of leaders who are teaching better economic principles and adjust- ing the farmer's problem as a class to the problems and conditions of other groups in America. These thinkers are gradually compelling the political leaders to follow an economic pro- gram of adjustment rather than the old class program of class exploita- tion. Mr. Sapiro has successfully reor- ganized many of the largest industries both here and abroad. His wheat re- organization in Canada, cotton and tobacco and dried fruits reorganiza- tions in this country, his work on in- ternational trade with England and France are well known. . Mr. Sapiro is closely allied with Hoover in Washington, and is at present, assisting in working out the railroad rate-making situation. His work has been openly attacked by Henry Ford, it is stated. The libel suit against Mr. Ford, which Mr. Sapiro has instituted, is set for trial February 12, at Detroit. This trial will command national attention. Not only is Mr. Sapiro a lawyer of extraordinary ability, but he is also a magnetic and brilliant speaker. His story of any industry is always dramatic, thought-compelling, and fascinating. For this reason, the Win- netka Woman's club is holding an open evening meeting to enable the husbands and their friends to hear a speaker of dynamic energy and power, whose work, it is stated, is of great importance in our national af- fairs. Mrs. Florence Kiper Frank gave a reading of her own poems to a fas- cinated audience at the Woman's club Tuesday, November 17. Mrs. Frank is as well known in literary circles in New York as she is in Chicago, and her hearers went away not only thrilled with her lovely verse, but with the feeling that she belongs there and is a member of this club of our community. The club meetings are being well at- tended, which is always gratifying to the board of managers. Names of non-resident guests will be read at each meeting, giving an op- portunity to members to welcome those who visit them.
