32 WINNETKA TALK 28, 1925 November John Dewar Given Reward for Brave Deed of Long Ago John Dewar, 797 Pine street, has re- cently had demonstrated to him the truth of the quotation in the Bible about bread cast the waters. On the evening of July 20, 1923, Dewar rescued Sidney Wilcox, 1020 Lake Shore drive, upon Chicago, from the lake at the Winnetka | beach. Wilcox, an insurance broker, had dived into shallow water, striking his head against the bottom and breaking his neck. Dewar, who was standing nearby, noticed that he didn't return to the surface after the dive so he swam out and brought the man to shore. Wil- cox lay for a long while at Evanston hospital in a serious condition, and Dewar heard nothing more from him. This week Dewar received a. gold watch from Tiffany's, of New York, sent by Mr. Wilcox, who has nearly re- covered from the accident. Dewar is a student at New Trier high school.
