50 WINNETKA "TALK December 12, 1925 WANT AN ORPHAN FOR XMAS DAY? READ ON! Methodist Church Group Again Sponsors Christmas Cheer Plan for Orphans BY OBSERVER Look towards the close of this arti- cle. See the long list of names? Names of orphans in the Methodist Orphanage at Lake Bluff. Now no- tice especially the name of the first orphan. Wouldn't you like to enter- tain him in your home on Christmas day? Treat him just as you would a child of your own? For many years it has been the very good custom in Wilmette and Win- netka for householders to take one or more of these children into the home for a Christmas day and dinner. The before-mentioned list at the close of this article gives the names of all the available orphans, and after each name is the child's age. If you wish to give them and yourself this great pleasure telephone Mrs. Roy Haskin, Wilmette 155, and tell her which one or ones you will take. Mrs. Haskins will tell you just how you can get them. This, work, one of the truest exhibi- tions of the real Christmas spirit, is carried on under the auspices of the Philathea class of the Wilmette Par- ish Methodist church. The other two girls were Miss Dorothy Foresman and Miss Katherine Bosch, of Houghton, Mich., a guest. The girls were returning from a visit with friends. The bandits followed them in a motor car from Evanston, and when the girls stopped in front of the Foresman home they were made to get out of their car and hand over their valuables at the points of three revolvers. They were then ordered to get back into the car. It was at this juncture that Foresman Miss Emily sounded the horn on her car, at which the bandits jumped into it and sped away, leaving their own car, which was later found to have been stolen. Kenilworth and Wilmette police were notified but no trace of the bandits was discovered. It was thought that they drove west over Lake avenue, Wilmette. The girls placed their combined loss at about $500, in addition to the motor car. Miss Foresman is a daughter of Hugh A. Foresman, vice president of a Chicago publishing house. The rob bery occurred shortly before 11 o'clock in the evening.
