ai staan December 19, 1925 WINNETKA TALK 45 College Folk Hold Benefit Dance for Nutrition Clinic North shore young people returning from the colleges and universities for the holiday season will plunge into the social whirl almost before they have time to get settled for the few weeks of rest and recreation. Activities get under way Monday night, December 21, when the college folk gather at the Orrington hotel ballroom at Evanston for the dance and frolic to be given by the Glencoe Juniors for the benefit of the nutrition clinic of the Mary Crane Infant Wel- fare station at Hull House, Chicago. Augmenting the dance, coaxed by the entrancing strains of the Barbary Coast orchestra, will be a number of specialties culminating with a Charles- ton contest. There is to be a soft shoe specialty done by Helen Scudder, Jean Mel- ville and Laura Lenfesty, a tango ex- hibition by Don Turner and Helen Scudder, and songs by Jimmie Griffin. The Charleston contest will get under way at 10:30 o'clock. The Barbary Coast orchestra com- prises of a group of Dartmouth boys who have achieved an enviable repu- tation in the East and the committee in charge regards itself as particularly fortunate in securing this aggregation of dance musicians. Miss Evelyn Pardee Woods of Glen- coe is chairman of the social commit- tee of the Juniors and has charge of the ticket sales. Village Sells Electric Cooker at Big Reduction Electric cookers, cited at "far below retail price' are offered on special holi- day sale to residents of Winnetka only, at the old Village hall. Today is the final day of the sale. This bargain is offered the house- holders by the Village and represents a purchase at one-third of the retail cost of the article. The cookers come in two sizes and are of proved value, it is explained. At a similar sale last summer the Village experienced 2a complete sell-out of the devices. The electric cooker avoids the necessity of pre-heating of food on other stoves, it is pointed out. It represents cook- ing by stored heat. The sale of these cookers, which are said to be especially appropriate for camping or motor tours, as well as thoroughly efficient for home use, ends today.
