Red Cross Roll Call in Winnetka this year, the village has another record to which it can justly point with pride, the workers in the campaign declare. Also, it is emphasized, the village should be grateful to the workers who made it possible for the householders to again show their allegiance to the national organization for relieving dis- tress. One hundred and twenty women um; dertook, in the week after Thanksgiv- ing, to 'make a house-to-house canvas of the community and, as a result of their efforts, were able to show an en- rollment of 1290 Red Cross members who have contributed $2,099 toward the Roll Call of the Chicago Chapter of the American Red Cross. New Trier High school enrolled 100 of these members and the North Shore Country Day school, 153. This amount does not represent the complete quota of the village's gift, as many men necessarily subscribe through their business places in Chi- cago, but it is a satisfaction to those who were generous of their time in doing this soliciting to feel that Win- netka is generous in its response to this national appeal. Read All the Want Ads Sunday Club News | The program offered at the Win- nietka Sunday Evening club last week was an interesting and unusual one. It was in charge of Mr. Harry James, who brought with him one of the new panatropes manufactured by the Brunswick Phonograph company. Mr. James played a number of piano, organ, vocal, and orchestral records. The panatrope is operated electrically. It is the only instrument upon which piano, harp, and organ music can be successfully reproduced, he explained. Sunday, December 20, Miss Mary King will have charge of a Christmas program. Supper will be served as usual in the Campfire Room of Com- munity House at 6:30 o'clock. Because many of its members will be out of town during the Christmas holidays, the club will not meet Sun- day, December 27, but will resume its regular meetings on January 3. CLOSE LIBRARY TWO DAYS The Winnetka Public Library an- nounces that it will be closed Friday, December 25 (Christmas Day) and Saturday, December 26. The library workers will enjoy a two-day holiday.
