McGuire, 408 E. Rail- road avenue, Wilmette, was elected president of the Illinois branch of the First Division society, A. E.F., at the annual dinner of that society of war veterans held at the Morrison hotel Saturday night, November 27. Mr. McGuire was with the first troops to land in France, attached to the 6th Field Artillery of the First Division, and saw action in four major operations, at Cantigny, St. Mihiel, Soissons and the Argonne. He was wounded and gassed. He also was with the Army of Occupation in Ger- many for nine months after the Armis- tice. Mr. McGuire is a member of Wil- mette Post No. 46, of the American Legion.
