Depot Mrs. Effie Reid Fake, of 905 Ver- non avenue, Glencoe, was fatally in- jured when struck by a Chicago and North Western passenger train at the Glencoe station Sunday afternoon, and died at the Evanston hospital a few hours later. Her daughter, Miss Effie Fake, who accompanied her mother, was also in- jured, sustaining a fracture of three ribs. She also was removed to the hospital, and will recover. The accident occurred about 5 o'clock. Mrs. Fake and her daughter, upon leaving their home to go to Chi- cago on the train due in Glencoe at 4:45 p. m,, crossed from Vernon ave- nué on Lincoln avenue to the railroad right-of-way and were walking on the track to the station. This is a custo- mary route for those residing in this section of the village, to avoid the long walk down Vernon and over on Park avenue. The two women were following a path on the east side of the tracks, and although the train was approach- ing and slowing down for the station stop, it evidently was coming faster than they anticipated. They were about seventy-five feet north of the platform when Miss Fake was struck by the engine and hurled against her mother, both of whom were thrown five or six feet from the track to the east side of the right-of-way and sev- eral feet south. A purse, with a leather handle, car- ried by Miss Fake, was found in the snow Monday, by James N. Faucett, North Western agent at Glencoe, about fifty feet from where Miss Fake and her mother were struck. The purse was open and a section from the handle which had been torn out was found inside the purse. Mrs. Fake, formerly the wife of Frederick I. Fake, ex-municipal Judge, is survived by three daughters and a Beauty Lies in Healthy EYES It's not so much the size or color of the EYES that makes them beautiful.
