This gas is odorless, sive, non-inflammable and cannot be- come a source of danger to property. Unlike other refrigerants it does not become a menace in time of fire. Instead it is a fire extinguisher. The refrigerating system consists of a large central plant which is installed in the basement of the building. This central plant cools brine which is cir- culated by means of pipe lines through the building connecting to coils which are installed in the individual apart- ment refrigerators. The brine temper- ature can be held at any desired point by the operator, thereby assuring prop- er refrigeration in each apartment refrigerator at all times. Each apart- ment refrigerator is also equipped with an ice cube tray for freezing of cube ice. In addition to cooling the apartment refrigerators, the central plant also cools refrigerators which are installed in the main kitchen, which are used in connection with the dining room. The various refrigerators, such as meat, fruit and vegetable, cook's refrigera- tors, pantry refrigerators, short order refrigerators, ice cream cabinets, etc., are all kept at the temperature which has been found most suitable for stor- ing the various food stuffs. This in- sures food in proper condition at all times. This ice can be cut up into cubes or crushed for general table use in the main dining room, or fer use by any tenant. Properly cooled and filtered drinking water has also been provided for the | | occupants of the Georgian. Cooling of this water is done by means of a drinking water cooling and stor- age tank which is also located in the basement of the bulding. The refrig- erating plant is connected with this cooling tank so that water is supplied at a temperature of between 45 degrees degrees at the fountains by a drinking water circulating large means of system. This water is kept in constant circulation so that at any time that a valve at the fountain is opened an in- stantaneous supply of cold water is obtainable. It is not necessary to run the faucet for any length of time in order to get cold water. gained in aggregate In 75 years Illinois has population 718 per cent; wealth 14,000 per cent; improved farm land acreage 467 per cent; value of farm property 3,552 per cent; capital invested in manufacturing 18,000 per cent; value of manufactured products 30,000 per cent and in railway mileage [12,000 per cent.
