Manicuring Marcelling Plan Lie Detector to Trap the Fibber on the Golf Course That golfing fiend that you suspect of being a relative of Ananias after he announces his score at the end of a round is doomed. The fellow who lies poorly in the sand traps and lies--and lies--and lies when he yells he's out in one will be [relegated to "Layon McDuffer's" class | with the application of one of the latest | scientific discoveries to the "Ancient {and Royal game," according to Spear- | man Lewis, director of the Inter- national Golf Show, March 21 to 26, at the Hotel Sherman, Chicago. One of the centers of attraction at the show is bound to be the "Lie de- tector" which will be on exhibition. This device, it is claimed, can tell un- failingly whether or not the person it is attached to is answering questions put to him truthfully or not. It con- sists of a small rubber air hose which is attached to a person's wrist at one end and to a recording device at the other. The pulse beats of the player will be faster and will register so if he is lying, according to the inventors, who think they see a good place to market the device at the golf show. Another exhibit at the show which is sure to interest golfers will be a new kind of sand for traps. Manufacturers of the sand say that it is "non-skid- able" and that the player whose ball is in this sand will have an easier time making his shots if he plays off it. Everything in the world of golf will be on view at the show from tractors to golf balls. Joe Kirkwood, world's trick shot champion, will be on hand to exhibit his weird bag of tricks twice daily during the show and to partici- pate in tournaments. The "Derby Hat" indoor course which was used at last year's show will be re-constructed at the Hotel Sher- man and a number of the leading ama- teurs and pros in the country will play on it before and during the show. | | | CHRISTIAN SCIENCE SERVICE The lesson sermon at First Church of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday morn- ing, February 27, will be "Christ Jesus."
