Budd Medal for the Saving of Human Life, recently estab- lished by Mr. Budd within the public utility companies which he heads as award of honor for any employe who saves the life of anybody, anywhere and at any time, was presented re- cently to two employes of the Public Service Company of Northern Illinois, one employe of the Chicago Rapid Transit company and, posthumously to a late employe of the Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee railroad--the North Shore line. The presentations were the first made since this new award of honor was recently instituted. Three of the heroic incidents occurred out of the line of duty while none of those saved was in any way connected with the public util- ity organization concerned. 200 Women at Sessions of Government Institute Two hundred women responded wth a cheerful and enthusiastic "aye" to the invitation extended them by the Institute of Government which is to meet in Harris hall, Evanston campus of Northwestern university, starting Wednesday, March 2, according to Mrs. May Wood-Simons, the chairman of the Institute. This meeting covered three days of earnest endeavor to in- terest women in their own city, state, and national governments and to ac- quire knowledge on certain questions of exact interest to the women of Illinois, in particular. New Trier Rifle Experts Win High Place in Shoot New Trier High school riflemen, en- tered in the National Tyro team champipnship, placed eighth in the meet, out-shooting several large col- leges and universities and even rep- resentatives of the United States Naval Academy and Marine Corps. By making the highest score of any high school entered in the match, they also rank first among the high schools The team is composed of nine mem- bers, John Appleton, Everett Carpen- ter, Joe Crumlish, Paul Crumlish, Dixie Douglas, Dick Douglas, Ralph Johnson, Drake Older and William Peacock. It was coached by T. G. Lively, former Illinois State Rifle team captain and coach, former president of the Illinois State Rifle association, winner of the distinguished rifle and pistol medals and a member of two winning international rifle teams. Teams of not more than ten men each from any High school, university, rifle club, and branch of service and the United States Military and Naval academies were eligible for competi- tion. Each member of the team was to fire thirty shots in three stages, ten shots to the stage, and the high five scores in each stage to count for record; over the regulation fifty foot course in the prone position. The match was won by the Univer- sity of Missouri with a score of 1500 x 1500. New Trier's score was 1489 x 1500. Mr. and Mrs. William P.
