36 WINNETKA TALK March 5, 1927 Girls Challenge Boys to Debate at New Trier High The Girls' Debating club at New Trier High school is to compete against the Freshmen Boys' Debating club soon on the question "Resolved that Immigration Should Be Further Re- stricted." The boys have not an- nounced their choice of debaters, but the girls have chosen Jane Ashman, Cecilia Baldwin, and Elizabeth Freund. The Freshmen have not yet communi- cated with the girls regarding the ex- act time, and as to whether they will take the affirmative or negative. OPEN NEW SILK SHOP The Edgar A. Stevens, Inc. silk shops, one of which is located at 1638 Orrington avenue, Evanston, will have another shop opened soon at 4052 West Madison street, near Crawford, Chicago. The track team will encounter Purdue here Friday night, and Saturday night the swim- ming team will take on Wisconsin at Patten gym. Winnetka Couple Die in Florida "Airplane Crash Funeral services for Mr: and Mrs. Walter A. Glos 14 Indian Hill road, Winnetka, who were killed in an air- plane crash near Tampa City, Fla. last Friday, were held early this week in Miami, Florida. The bodies were brought north to Elmhurst, former home of Mr. Glos, for burial. The accident in which Mr. and Mrs. Glos met their death occurred shortly after the plane in which they were rid- ing had taken off at Tampa City, bound for Miami, Florida. Shortly after clearing the Tampa City limits the plane, piloted by H. J. Brady of the Florida Airplane corporation, was seen to suddenly begin a landing, bounce erratically and crash. The pilot managed to extricate himself but Mr. and Mrs. Glos perished in the flames immediately enveloped the At a Tampa hospital, Brady, though in a semi-conscious | state, attributed the accident to the fog { which covered the country. Mrs. Glos, with their two children, had been visiting in Miami and Tampa City with her parents and sister. There they were joined a few days before the catastrophe, by Mr. Glos, who had rushed south to be with his family in time to celebrate the birthday of their son, Gardner. The accident occurred as they were returning to Miami to begin their trip back north. Mr. Glos was an attorney and also the president of Glos and Bates real estate company of Chicago. He is sur- vived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Glos a brother, Albert H. Glos, and two sisters, residing at Elmhurst. Mrs. Glos is survived by a sister in Miami and her parents residing in Tampa. Musical Society Presents All-Scandinavian Program The North Shore Musical society held a meeting of unusual interest at the home of Miss Adelaide Jones, 1020 Central avenue, Wilmette, Monday, February 28. The assisting hostesses to Miss Jones were Mrs. Elizabeth English and Mrs. Gevila E. Neukranz.
