March 19, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 23 COEDS IN STYLE SHOW To Illustrate Talk on Costume Design by Professor of Art at Northwestern Wednesday, March 30 A fashion show, to be staged in An- nie May Swift hall, with students wearing clothes illustrating a talk on costume design to be given by Miss Anna H. Hong, the Ida C. Cook pro- fessor of art at Northwestern univer- sity, is planned for Wednesday after- noon, March 30, at 3. The public is invited. The show will be by the art depart- ment and Beaux Art club of the uni- versity. Prof. Joseph Pijoan, who is giving a short series of art lectures at the Art institute, Chicago, lectured yester- day afternoon at Harris hall, under auspices of the University art depart- ment. His subject was "Spanish Art." Prof. Pijoan was formerly of the Su- perior School of Architecture in Barcelona, the Spanish school in Rome, and commendator of the Royal Order of the Crown of Italy. BUYS IN WILMETTE W. G. Stacey and company, realtors, have sold through their Wilmette office the vacant lot on Ashland avenue near Thirteenth street, Wilmette, to Wil- liam C. Hayes of Winnetka. Mr. Hayes will shortly improve this proper- ty with an attractive English home, which he expects to occupy late in the summer. OBSERVE "PAGEANT OF ESTHER" "The Pageant of Esther, celebration of Purim by combined Congregation and school, will be observed by the North Shore Congregation Israel Sun- day morning, March 20, in the Hub- bard Woods school. The services will be in charge of Rabbi Harvey E. Wes- sel. North Shore Pioneer, 92, Celebrates Birthday Monday Mrs. Dorothy Rosenow Bremer of Highland Park and her children and grandchildren from the north shore celebrated Mrs. Bremer's ninety-second birthday on Monday, March 14. Mrs. Bremer received guests during the day and there was a supper party in the evening in her honor. Mrs. Bremer was complimented with many flowers during the day. Mrs. Bremer has been a resident of the north shore since she came to this country in 1853, and for ten years she has lived in Highland Park. She lived before that in Northbrook and vicinity. Mrs. F. C. Holste of Wilmette is Mrs. Bremer's daughter. MEMORIAL TO SYBIL BAUER Northwestern students wil! contrib- ute funds for the purchase of a me- morial plaque to Sybil Bauer, famous Northwestern girl swimmer, who re- cently died after a long illness. The plaque, which will cost $150, is to be placed in the swimming poo! at the gymnasium. The plaque will be mounted on wood and will have the figure of Miss Bauer in a Northwest- ern swimming suit standing out in bold relief. Beneath 'the figure will be the words, "Daughter of Neptune," the or- ganization of which she was a member. Her records will also be placed on the plaque.
