R. Lauer, president of the Village board and Edgar Wessling, Joseph Kortman and Elmer Moore, trustees, whose terms will expire, and who, it is said, will not be candidates for re-election. That there will be numerous candi- dates, especially for the office of presi- dent, is also predicted, and petitions for the various candidates for both the offices of president and trustees, werc expected to be in circulation this week. A number of President Lauer's friends have been insisting that he again be a candidate, but he has thus far been adamant in declining to seek office again. Those who are so insis- tent that his services be further given to the village, say he has conducted its business during the past two years in a highly satisfactory manner, and also point out that it has been a period, though brief in comparison to the age of Northbrook, in which the village has gone forward by far greater de- grees than ever before in all its his- tory. They feel that Northbrook still needs his experience and judgment to pilot the many things now under way for its further growth and expansion. Northbrook has paved and improved more streets, added more new subdivi- sions and witnessed the erection of more new buildings, in proportion to its population, perhaps, than any of the north shore villages, and the office of president, from this time forward, will demand still more time from the incoming official, Mr. Lauer feels. For that reason, he insists he cannot un- dertake it another year. Mrs. Catherine Vollers of Wilming- ton, N. C., arrived last week to be the guest of her daughter, Mrs. Frank R. Fuller, of Church road, for several months. trouble is, he friends. COMING BACK A defunct used car can be cheaply doctored up so that it will just about carry the purchaser away. The stays away.
