At the Princess, "Ned McCobb's Daughter" has been held over be- cause the box office indicates that the public has taken the critics seriously. In this play, Mr. Sidney Howard shows how a shrewd Yankee mother can outwit even a sophisticated boot- legger when the future of her children is threatened. And what a bootlegger he is. Mr. John Cromwell, who plays HIT the part, is reason enough for a trip to the Princess. The play abounds in thrills, interesting situations and good fun. The entire company is excellent with Miss Florence Johns playing the Yankee mother in a most satisfying manner. "Katja," a spectacular musical com- edy, opened at the Garrick last week. Frederick Lonsdale is responsible for the book while Harry Graham and Jean Gilbert are credited with lyric and music, respectively. One dreams, and hopes and understands with Maggie as she struggles along in her all-powerful love. Miss Hayes is not acting, she is living Maggie every moment of the time.
